Archived Lake Reports for February 2006
North Lake adult only non-members*
19/02 2006
North lake continues to produce some good fish and as the weather slowly warms up the sport is getting better and better. Several 20lb plus fish daily, backed with plenty of mid to high doubles. Small baits are still the way to go with small amounts of freebies either in bags or on stringers. If you don’t know the lake, use a marker float to find the features, it is essential for success.
* Minimum tackle requirements: 40” net, 40” unhooking mat, 2.5lb T.C rods and 10lb line per angler, no sharing allowed. Pre-booking 2–3 weeks in advance for 24 hour plus weekend sessions on North Lake is advisable.
Plantation Lake*
19/02 2006
Plantation really is coming into its own at the moment, it’s still not easy but some cracking fish have been had to 26lb. Presentation is key to Plantation Lake. Make sure your bait is presented to match the feature you are fishing to.
Again single baits with small amounts of freebies are the way to go at present.
* Minimum tackle requirements are a 30” net and an un-hooking mat per angler.
Prairie Lake
19/02 2006
Try natural baits as well as pellet on smaller hooks to get hold of the fish, scale all your tackle down as much as you can. The Perch fishing is still good so now is your chance, float fished lob worms in the margins are a good bet for a big Stripey. Bites can be very delicate so it pays to watch your rod tip or shot your float down as far as possible. Some great mixed bags are being put together and the Carp fishing is good with several large fish putting in an appearance. Corn is also a good bet at this time of year.
Sandwich Lake
19/02 2006
Still lots of Bream, Roach, Rudd and the occasional Tench making it to the net. Just about every bait works, pellet, corn, worm maggot, caster and bread are the favorites. Chopped worm also works very well. Keep feeding the swim, little and often for best results. Matches are being fished at this time of year so its worth a call to check availability on a Wednesday or Sunday. Some very good bags have been put together during the matches, with some exceeding 70lb.
Kettles Lake
19/02 2006
Kettles is on a run of really nice, big carp at the moment but as with Prairie Lake, Kettles can be hard work when the water temperature is down so scale down your tackle and concentrate on bait presentation. Bites can be very delicate so it pays to watch your rod tip or shot your float down as far as possible, if either so much as twitch, hit them! Just about every kind of bait works in Kettles but the favorites have to be, meat, pellet, corn and worm.
Pullens Lake members only
19/02 2006
Well done to Phil Boniface who had a lovely brace of mirrors topped with a 24. Tactics remain the same as always, lump the bait in there to get the fish feeding. As with the other lakes the going is pretty tough at the moment but plenty of fish are still being caught. New stock has recently been added so no excuses!
West End Lake members only

West end is exactly the same as Pullens, work hard and you will reap the rewards. Lump the bait in there to get the fish feeding. As with the other lakes the going is pretty tough at the moment but plenty of fish are still being caught. New stock has recently been added so no excuses!
