North Lake Adult only*
25/07 2007
North Lake has really come into its own over the last few weeks and with the water temperature rising the bigger fish are really on the move. The key to this lake seems to be Spodding out plenty of bait, and don’t worry you won’t over feed them.
Biggest fish in the last 4 weeks were caught by Ray Pickering: 44lb, Mirror, Greg Sewett: 30lb, Elliott Nicholls: 36lb, 5oz, John Nicholls: 27lb, 5oz and a 26lb, cat, Mr Smith: 44lb, cat, Matt Hornsby: 31lb, Mirror and a 29lb, Cat
* Minimum tackle requirements: 40” net, 40” unhooking mat, 2.5lb, T.C rods and 10lb, line per angler, no sharing allowed. Pre-booking 2–4 weeks in advance for 24 hour plus weekend sessions on North Lake is advisable.
Plantation Lake*
25/07 2007
Plantation is fishing very well with some cracking fish coming out, Kieson Steel: 20lb, 4oz, Mickey Hamer: 18lb, 7oz, Danny Woodin: 20lb, 3oz, Peter Brant: 19lb, Mr Pannel: 11lb, 12oz, 13lb, 14oz 8oz, John Southgate: 18lb, Lee Brooker: 19lb, Steve Toogood: 16lb, 17lb, 12lb, 12lb, Mirrors and three Commons 14lb, 15lb, 19lb.
There really is no preferred method but you can never go far wrong with the Korda maggot clip and maggots in you ground bait. On warm sunny days it is possible to get them feeding on the surface so always have a few dog biscuits in your bags, if the fish are on the surface leave one rod on the bottom and have one on top.
* Tackle requirements are a 30” net and an un-hooking mat per angler.
Prairie Lake
25/07 2007
Prairie Lake has really been fishing well and continues to produce some cracking fish. As with Plantation, pellet can be a real favorite at this time of year. Maggot and caster always seem to work along with the flavored corns and luncheon meats.
The monster Perch are back in evidence Adrian Parson caught a 4Lb6oz specimen so sling a float fished lob worm into the margins and you never know? The key to this lake at the moment seems to be using plenty of bait don’t be afraid to put it in.
Sandwich Lake
25/07 2007
Float fishing is always productive as well as ledgering. Scale your hook length right down and concentrate on as finer presentation as you dare to fool the bigger fish. Sandwich remains very constant as we enter into the winter months with very good bags being put together on a daily basis… Favorite baits at present are corn, pellet, worm and caster. Particles such as hemp always work well so bear that in mind.
There are no more matches mid week or weekends now until 9th September.
Kettles Lake
25/07 2007
Kettles has again been fishing well and continues to produce lots of those hard fighting Carp that so many of you enjoy. Alex Martin caught a huge Perch weighing in at 4lb, using a cube of luncheon meat on a size 10 hook and 5lb, line. Lucy Angus had a whopping 2lb, Roach and a 10lb, Mirror. Ross Angus also had 10lb, Mirror.
The method remains the firm favorite as far as tactics go but don’t overlook the humble float fished worm or maggot, especially in the margins. This can be a real winner. Particle continues to produce, remember to keep topping up your swim throughout the session. Little and often is the way to go. Try scaling down your presentation some times it’s the smallest changes that can make good day’s fishing into a great day’s fishing.
Pullens Lake Adult only
25/07 2007
The fish have gone mad in Pullens in the last couple of weeks, with some really big bags being put together and the man of the month Tony Drew: 20Lbx2 22lb, 24lb, 29lb, Lee Kelcy: 29lb, 24Lbx2 23lb, 22lb, 21lb, 20lb, 18lb, Duncan Jamieson: 29lb, 28Lbx3 26Lbx2 25lb, Terry: Dobson: 32lb, and a 31lb, Pete Webb: 23lb, 21lb, 19lb, Mr Murras: 30lb, 25lb, 23lb, x 2 21lb, x 3 20lb, Jason Wheeler 28lb, 25lb, 23Lbx2 21lb, x 3 20lb, x 2.
So as you can see it’s fishing very well, the most productive bait in the last week is Maize, so make sure you have some with you.
West End Lake Adult only
25/07 2007
Westend seems to be the lake of the moment and is getting very popular it is producing loads of big fish, Matt Phipps: 7 20s, Matt Everett: 5 20s, Ray: 26lb, 20lb, x 2, Mr Ward: 32lb, 31lb, 5 20s, Richard Caunier: 26lb, 22lb, 20lb, x 2.
Remember to keep topping up your swim throughout the session, the most successful Boilie at the moment seems to be Nash Scopex Squid and Liver. Pellet is also worth a try and can really do the business, especially when fished in conjunction with a pva bag of smaller pellet near the hook-bait but add some fruity glug just to give it an extra edge.
