Archived Lake Reports for November 2005
North Lake adult only non-members*
12/11 2005
North Lake has now produced 63 Carp over 30lb to 37lb 8oz this season. As the water temperature drops below the magic 13 centigrade the big fish are beginning their winter feed-up. Now is the time to see some truly impressive fish. Pay particular attention to your presentation and bait location, a marker float is essential. Find the features and you will find the big carp. Loads of mid to high 20lb fish are being banked daily.
The Catfish are now very inactive but Pike fishing has started again, please be aware of the rules concerning pike fishing on North lake, phone the lodge for details on 01580 212512.
* Minimum tackle requirements: 40” net, 40” unhooking mat, 2.5lb T.C rods and 10lb line per angler, no sharing allowed. Pre-booking 2–3 weeks in advance for 24 hour plus weekend sessions on North Lake is advisable.
Plantation Lake*
12/11 2005
Now the nights are drawing in and the water temperature is dropping Plantation is the perfect short session proposition if you want the chance of a 20lb plus Carp. You will have to work for your fish but there is nothing mysterious about this lake, keep it simple and concentrate on getting the basics right. Maize and corn continue as the firm favorite baits but with the cooler water try fruity flavored baits as well.
* Minimum tackle requirements are a 30” net and an un-hooking mat per angler.
Prairie Lake
12/11 2005
As the water temperature drops the bigger Carp really get their heads down and feed hard. Try natural baits as well as pellet on smaller hooks to get hold of them. The Perch fishing is starting to hot up again with the colder weather so now is your chance, float fished lob worms in the margins are a good bet.
Sandwich Lake
12/11 2005
Sandwich really comes into its own at this time of year, lots of Bream, Roach, Rudd and still the occasional Tench! Just about every bait works, pellet, corn, worm maggot, caster and bread are the favorites. Keep feeding the swim, little and often for best results. Matches are now being fished again so it’s worth a call to check availability on a Wednesday or Sunday.
Kettles Lake
12/11 2005
The “method” is still a firm favorite on kettles at the moment. Float-fished maggot and worm are producing some great mixed bags as well as some big Carp. Use plenty of freebies and ground-bait, little and often to build up your swim and keep the fish in front of you. Watch the water for feeding activity and get your baits on top of the fish.
Pullens Lake members only
12/11 2005
It’s getting very boring but Terry Dobson is again hauling with a huge (and well deserved, I might grudgingly add!) 54 fish catch, Terry proves that if you put the time in you’ll get the results. Tony Rand and Steve Utting put together an impressive 17 fish bag over last weekend, stop missing the big fish Tony! Tactics remain the same, lump the bait in there to get the fish feeding.
West End Lake members only
12/11 2005
West End shows no sign of slowing down and continues in fine form in the colder weather. The lake is producing some lovely mid-twenties at present, mainly to Halibut and tigernut boilies.
